ABS Compounds

ABS

ABS, which is short for Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene, is an opaque polymer with a wide range of properties such as strong resistance to physical impact and corrosive chemicals. Among the common uses of ABS are power tool housings, packing crates, cases, tools and household components, auto parts, toys, and many more. This plastic is used for 3D printing (mainly FDM), CNC milling, lathing and injection moulding. This engineering plasstic is popular due to its low production cost and the ease with which the material is machined by plastic manufacturers. The styrene component provides gloss and rigidity while the butadiene component provides excellent impact properties. ABS is easy to process. Compounding technology allows a wide variety of colourants to be compounded into ABS. This allows production in a wide range of custom colours. Applications for ABS products can be extended by the addition of additives such as stabilizers, flame retardants, and reinforcing fillers. The modification of its properties is possible with the use of additives, modifiers and reinforcing agents.
